Standards and Reading of SMD Resistors

The measurement standards of SMD resistors are given in the left table in the picture. SMD resistors are usually produced between 0.03 and 1 W.

When reading SMD resistors, the last digit of the number on the resistor is understood as the power of 10. This 10 number is multiplied by the number from which the remaining digits are formed.

Sample Readings:

The value of an SMD resistor with 122 on it is 122 = 12 x 100 = 1200 Ω = 1.2 KΩ.

The value of an SMD resistor with 1763 written on it would be 1763=176 x1000=176000=176 KΩ.

The value of an SMD resistor marked 4R7; R is found by assuming the decimal point (.). 4R7=4.7Ω
