Who is Robot Sophia?


Sophia is a robot developed by Hanson Robotics, a Hong Kong-based company. It draws attention with its human-like appearance and artificial intelligence abilities. Sophia's design includes features such as artificial leather that has been specially developed for her ability to mimic facial expressions and interact with people.

Using artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies, Sophia can talk on various topics and interact with people. It can provide voice responses, answer questions, and in some cases even create dialogues. In addition, it can perceive its environment and recognize people with its visual perception and facial recognition abilities.

Now, science and technology are developing so rapidly and rapidly that what Sophia said will come true, we are not greeted with surprise, but with excited anticipation.

In fact, there are two main things that matter in a human-like robot. Intelligence and physical abilities. If we look at the point where the development of intelligence or artificial-intelligence technologies has come today, it is not difficult to predict what will come before us in a short time. The software, that is, the code part of artificial intelligence, is now very advanced. The processor and memory technologies that the software will run on have also advanced considerably.

In other words, the artificial intelligence part of a robot is at a technical level that is sufficient to manage many human systems at the moment when it comes to information processing, decision making, interpretation, learning new things. Many systems such as car management, agricultural activities, city management systems, housework management systems, apartment management systems can be easily managed by artificial intelligence. Of course, when we say artificial intelligence we mean artificial intelligence in a robot.

The second important thing in a robot is physical abilities. It is now possible to produce robots such as a hoeing robot, an irrigation robot, a fruit and vegetable picker, etc. in a field. In a factory, humanoid robots are possible, participating in all production systems. Robots that weld, tighten bolts, lubricate machinery, repair broken motors are now possible.

Can robots like Sophia do other kinds of work? For example, can they be the mayor of a city? When a digital infrastructure is established in a city, of course, robots can become mayors.

The main condition for robots to manage humans is how much the environment outside the physical existence of robots has become digital. Many data such as people, facial recognition systems, road conditions, weather conditions, economic data should be digitized so that the robots walking by us can manage us.

The NEOM project is actually about what we said in the previous paragraph. A preliminary study had to be done, which is the NEOM project.

There is another issue. In a place where robots will rule us humans (for example, in a city) there should be no data communication interruptions. At the same time, the data communication speed must be very high.


When infrastructure, that is, digitization, spreads to every field, then robots can rule us.
