Button Cell Types and Standards

Button Cell Types and Standards

Button cell batteries are a type of batteries used in many devices due to their small size and round shape. Button batteries are often used in low-power devices such as watches, remote controls, calculators, toys, LED lights, and other small electronic devices. Some of the chemical components used in its production are as follows:

Zinc Carbon (ZnC) Button Cell Battery: It is one of the most common types of button batteries and is low cost. However, it has a shorter lifespan than other types and is usually consumed in less than a few months.

Alkaline Button Cell: This type of button cell has a longer life and has a higher energy capacity than zinc carbon batteries. They are more expensive but more economical due to their longer life.

Lithium Coin Cell Battery: Lithium coin cell batteries have a longer life than other types and are ideal for devices that require high performance. For example, they can be used in cameras and other electronic devices.

Silver Dioxide (AgO) Button Cell: This type of button cell has a high energy density and a long life. They are mostly used in devices that require long-term use, such as health devices and watches.

Lithium-Ion Button Cell Battery: A newer technology, lithium-ion button batteries are preferred because of their environmentally friendly and less toxic properties, as well as having a longer life than other types.

The list of button cells according to their standard code names in terms of shape and voltage is given below:

LR44/A76: 1.5 volt, produced in 2 different types as round and flat ends.

CR2032: It is produced in 2 different types, 3 volts, round and flat ends.

SR626SW: 1.5 volt, produced in 2 different types as round and flat ends.

LR41/A76: 1.5 volt, produced in 2 different types as round and flat ends.

CR2025: It is produced in 2 different types, 3 volts, round and flat ends.

SR44: 1.55 volt, produced in 2 different types as round and flat ends.

LR1130: 1.5 volt, produced in 2 different types as round and flat ends.

CR2450: It is produced in 2 different types, 3 volts, round and flat ends.

Button cell voltages are usually between 1.5V or 3V, and the current capacity of most button batteries ranges from 20mAh to 225mAh. However, some special purpose button cells may have higher current capacity. Button batteries according to voltage and current values:
