ESP32-C61: Introduced with Economical Wi-Fi 6 Connection

Innovative Wi-Fi 6 Experience with ESP32-C61: Security, Memory and Optimized Peripherals

Espressif Systems (688018.SH) is excited to announce the launch of the ESP32-C61, a next-generation chip offering optimized peripherals, advanced connectivity options and expanded memory options for Wi-Fi 6 technology. Following the successes of the ESP32-C2 and ESP32-C3, this new System on Chip (SoC) is designed to meet the growing demand for Wi-Fi 6 technology.

Wireless Connection
ESP32-C61 offers Wi-Fi 6 support specifically optimized for IoT devices. This SoC supports various connectivity options such as 20MHz bandwidth for 802.11ax mode and 20/40MHz bandwidth for 802.11b/g/n mode. It includes features such as 802.11ax mode, OFDMA, MU-MIMO, which ensures reliable and low-latency connections. It can also enable ultra-low power applications with the Target Wake Up Time function. Bluetooth 5 (LE) radio supports long range operation via ad extension and encoded PHY. It also supports 2Mbps high-throughput PHY and adopts BLE-Mesh 1.1 protocol.

System and Memory
The ESP32-C61 includes a CPU with a single-core 32-bit RISC-V microcontroller, clocked up to 160 MHz. It runs on Quad SPI flash in addition to 320KB SRAM and 256KB ROM. In particular, the SoC offers PSRAM support with up to 120MHz Quad SPI, making it easier to focus on memory optimizations. This provides developers with greater memory availability and better assurance of future upgrades.

Security
ESP32-C61 stands out with its affordable security features. It includes features such as secure boot, flash and PSRAM encryption, cryptographic accelerators. Additionally, it has ECDSA based Digital Signature Peripheral and protects private keys from software access. It adds Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) using Access Permission Management (APM) hardware block and Physical Memory Protection (PMP), thus providing flexibility in application security management.
