Unitree B2: High-Performance Robot Challenges Spot's Rivals

Developed by Unitree, Unitree B2 is built on the previous model, Unitree B1, and naturally offers higher performance. B2, one of Spot's competitors, is designed for a variety of applications such as industrial automation, inspection, emergency rescue and security patrols, as well as robotic systems training and research.

B2's comprehensive performance is two to three times that of existing quadruped robots worldwide in terms of payload, range, mobility and speed. The dimensions of the robot are ≈ 1098 mm×450 mm×645 mm standing, ≈ 880 mm×460 mm×330 mm lying prone, and its weight is approximately 60 kg (including battery).

Battery performance is quite impressive and includes a battery with a capacity of 45Ah (2250Wh) and a voltage of 58V. With this battery, B2 offers a battery life of 4-6 hours. It has a range of up to 5 hours and 20 km on unloaded walking. Additionally, it has a walking performance of up to 4 hours and 15 km with a load of 20 kg.

The robot has a wheeled foot option and can carry a load of up to 120 kg while standing and 40 kg when walking. While continuous stair climbing ability includes the ability to climb 20-25 cm stairs, single obstacle crossing includes the ability to go up and down 40 cm stairs in a forward direction.

The operating temperature of B2 ranges from -20 °C to 55 °C, while the climb angle is more than 45°. The robot's running speed is more than 6 m/s, and it has a width of 0.5 to 1.2 million in ditch jumping.

B2's control and detection systems, whose ingress protection is IP67 class, include components such as Intel Core i5×1, Intel Core i7×3, Nvidia Jetson Orin NX×1, depending on different configurations.

Detection sensors include 3D LiDAR ×1, depth camera ×2, and optical camera ×2. Additionally, its interfaces include a variety of ports such as 1000M-based Ethernet×4, USB3.0×4, 12V×4, 5V×1, 24V×4 and BAT×1.
